Social Studies
The world truly is a gift from God, and our place within it is part of being made in the image of God. We are called to understand the world He has made, the people He has created, and the ways in which humanity has shaped and been shaped by history, culture, government, geography, and economics. God is sovereign over history; we study the past to better understand the present and to consider how we might faithfully participate in His ongoing work of redemption and restoration. Some people study the world while others love to explore its stories, complexities, and possibilities. Through the study of Canadian and world history, geography, politics, economics, globalization, and contemporary issues, Social Studies students continue to develop their abilities to think critically, examine evidence, understand diverse perspectives, engage thoughtfully with others, and become informed and responsible citizens.
