I was born and mostly raised in Red Deer, with the exception of 2 years in High River for high school, where I met my awesome husband. We got married in 2002, now have 2 teenagers and are loving our little family. I was thankful to get to stay at home with my kids for over 12 years. I love these teen years and have realized our teens need positive influences more than ever! I am a 5am-er and I can't miss my 5am workouts during the week. I especially love lifting and resistance training. I love all things music and trying new things, I have done everything from ice climbing, rapelling and boxing to ballet, tap, and hip hop. I am fun-loving! During the summer I spend as much time as I can on the water kayaking and in the winter, I hibernate. I am super excited to be a part of the CACHS team!

I attended Lacombe Christian School many moons ago and have always valued Christian education where one can learn about God’s kingdom and be challenged in their faith journey. I graduated from the University of Calgary, worked in youth care, and raised my family. I started part time work here at CACHS in 2000 and have enjoyed the opportunity to encourage, challenge and try to guide the students that come to CACHS. My conversations involve finding out what each student wants to be, but centers on who they want to become as a child of God. I am also involved with extracurricular through boys basketball, girls soccer, and outdoors club.

I grew up as a missionary kid and lived in seven different countries growing up. Lacombe has been the longest place I have lived! I enjoy living here and exploring the area with my family. We love camping, quadding, going to the lake, water sports, skating and playing hockey! I am passionate about creating and nurturing a growth mindset and empowering young people to be leaders in their lives! I highly value Christian education and I am excited to be a part of CACHS staff!
Mrs Dorien VanderKooi

I was born in Holland and moved to Ponoka, Alberta at the age of 12. I attended PCS for 2 years then moved onto CACHSwhere I graduated high school. After high school, I attended RDC and started my working career. I loved the accounting field and started as an Accounts Receivable clerk at the Red Deer Lodge where I worked for 12 years and progressed in my career. In the meantime, I married Nathan Vanderkooi and together we are blessed with 3 boys. Together as a family we love to travel and explore! I'm excited to be working here at CACHS!
